Help fitting Ph2 rear lights

  Monaco Blue Mk2
Been following fubar's guide for fitting my ph2 rear lights. I've come unstuck at the wiring though. When removing the wires to re-wire in the right order. Should I be trying to pull the whole thing out i.e. wire and the silver terminal if you like aswel, or just the wire from the silver terminal? Either way I'm having a fair bit of trouble getting it out, if it's just the wire tho I'll be able to prise the bits that clamp it in open to get the wire out. It doesn't seem to just pull out tho. If anyone can shed any light on this that would be great!

u need to make sure u lift the flap holding the silver bit in, theres one big one and one lil one for each othe silver pieces on the bottom, best lifting the individual ones as you pull it out, shud come out easily

These really aren't coming out easy at all! I've been trying to prise them out with a flat screwdriver but it's just not happening. I can get the first bit of the silver connector out but the bottom just wont come out, looks as if it's to big to fit out the hole.

Photo's if it helps, thats as far as any of them will go, any ideas? What am I doing wrong! lol

I had the same problem mate. The bottom bits do come out but I found it tricky at times and had to get a neighbour to help me. A wire split on me and he had to solder that too. Not as easy a job as I thought it would be!

I've been trying to prise the wire cover aswel as I thought that may make it easier. You're right, really isn't as easy as I thought it would be, need about four pairs of hands!! They are taking some serious force, bit worried I'm going to knacker them soon lol. I'll get a mate to help me tomorrow.
Hopefully it will be a case of once you've got one out...

im sorry i couldnt help any more mate... they should just lever out with a screwdriver.

on a plus side... you inspired me to add a paragraph into my guide.. all done now :)

where abouts do you live mate?

local to Bournemouth by any chance, i could have a look for you?

lol, not quite, North West! Don't worry mate, I'm sure I'll sort it with another pair of hands. Thanks for the offer though.
If you haven't already, feel free to use one of those pics ^ to illustrate what it is exactly that you remove. That was one of the main reasons of me taking them, forgot to mention!

Sorted now thanks fellas. Just went out with a better, stronger and longer flat screwdriver and it took me about 10 mins in all.

Fubar if you want anymore tips for the guide...don't know if it was just mine but there's no chance they'll just pull out. You must use a long, narrow, strong flat-head screwdriver. I tried different things yesterday as the toolbox wasn't here but used a screwdriver today and that was sound. When prising the wires out with the screwdriver, fair amount of force is needed (does seem too much for something that looks so delicate but it's fine) you'll hear a click when you've prised it enough, then it will just pull out.

Cheers again guys, fubar especially for the guide. They look good.

Nice one mate, what a difference they make eh?

Do look much better. Fresher, brighter, newer etc. Worth it for £30. Good cheap and easy mod. Did you see my silvervisions picture thread? If you do get some, silvervisions are a definate, look much better.

lol, not to worry mate, my fault, should of made sure the bulb holders were included. I got a new set off ebay (with holders and bulbs) and I'm just gonna sell the others on....

So if anyone want's any ph2 rear lights...£35 and they're yours!

Going on ebay on Sunday night.

The wires WILL just pull out, if you look on the OPPOSITE side of the plug to the pictures you have taken, there are some small tabs, you need to prise those up, and once you do that, they just pull out.
