Help - Found this under my car.

My mate noticed a black thing hanging down underneath the car. Not sure what it is, it was stuck to the part underneath the engine block, by the oil sump? Is this part of my car, or did it just get stuck as i was driving.

Plastic enclosed foam piece, will be saturated with oil and debris.
