Help from polishing experts

I am painting the fuel rail guard red with hammerite smooth. I am trying to get the paint as smooth as possible, but its slow work.

Is there any way I can polish it to smooth it out?

If you get plenty of paint on there, you will be able to wet sand and polish it to a super smooth finish.

Ok, cool. So I will stop sanding in between coats and build it up as much as possible.

I have 1500 grade wet n dry.

I would have sanded after primer, then built up the layers of colour. I only sand between colour coats if I fook up and get a run!

I didnt use primer, as it says that this paint is all in one.

Thats fine then - Just build up the paint, allow to cure, wet sand and polish.

Yep what Rich says, you'll get a better finish in the first place and leave yourself less wetsanding to do if you use the hammerite spray though.
