Help!!Headunit Removel

Hi,

I have just bought a stalk adaptor that im trying to fit to my car. Im having trouble working out how i remove the Pioneer headunit. It has no slots for removel keys, only little srews on the front.

Heres a pic, that should help understand what im on about.

Anyone?

i just put a knife behind the silver pit and then slowly put pressure on it so it slides out slowly, then the same on the other side, after that i just pullet it out!

Isn't to hard,

Sum1 else probs got a better method!!

When u pulled it out, did the cage come with it. Thats wot im worried about. Thanks for your reply

ahhh yeh the cage came out with it,

But then i took it off and put it onto my other headunit,

If your jst changing the adapters it doesnt matter if the cage comes out with it,

they fit back in sooo easily!

There are removal keys for these units they are about 10mm wide and have a small hook on the end. They push down the sides of the cage and release the unit.

ok thanks, will go to halfords and see if they do them. Had no luck with the knife idea, just fkcud up my dash!!

Just been to halfords and they reckon that there aint any removel keys for Pioneers and u can slide a screwdriver down the side. Been trying this for ages and all am doing is ruining the cage.

NO. :nono: sorry they are not, they are for the head unit he has, if he just "keeps pulling" he will cause more damage to his dash.

ask your friendly local chavs to help you. sure they will be experts at removing them

I think the ones Brian has are for Pioneer, i really dont know how thieving scum get em out so quick.

Hi Karl, I dont want to get arsey about this, they are flat keys that go down the side of the head unit and release the catches. I was in the trade for 20 years and have saved keys for just about every head unit ever made and I can assure you its the right keys for the blokes unit.

I would willingly send them to you, but as they are part of my collection I would need them back. I would attach a photo of them if I could, but for some reason since they updated the site, I cant post pictures. I could send the pictures to you if you PM your email address. I know they are available, so with the pictures you could go look for them.

they definately have keys as i have a pioneer with the keys to remove it, they just push in the side and release the mechanism and pull the unit out, easy as pie!

Hi Karl, I dont want to get arsey about this, they are flat keys that go down the side of the head unit and release the catches. I was in the trade for 20 years and have saved keys for just about every head unit ever made and I can assure you its the right keys for the blokes unit.

Get a mk1, In mk1 the panel that holes the CD player to the dash comes out with 4 screws So much easyer then messing with radio keys

I have had 3 pioneer cd players in the last 2 weeks ( keep sending them back to motor world) and all of them had removal keys? where did you buy yours?
