Help, I’m losing the faith :-(

Help, Im not really feeling my valver at the moment

I dont know why - it does need the rear brakes sorting (doesnt stop very well at the moment), as well as the exhaust (so is down on power and suffering from vibrations through the shell where its rubbing against the engine mount), but it just feels a bit... unexciting. :(

It might be because the tyres (F1s) are too grippy, so its not playful enough, but it might be because I live in essex and they seem to think that straight roads with a few roundabouts are what we want. Im really hankering after another RS Turbo again, despite having a budget thats way too small.

The handling on the RS was pants compared to the valver really, as it wasnt adjustable in the bends and the limit was hard to read, but the power (i.e. the turbo) and noise (lovely 4" magnex/turbo whistle/dump valve) was what made it fun. Theres just nowhere in Essex to enjoy a valver properly and in safety it seems.

If I got everything fixed then I might feel better about it, but I dont want to throw money at it if Im still not going to love it and will still be thinking about selling it.

Ho hum, therapy over...

thing is i remember you saying about how much money you threw at your RS turbo, and still not working right. i would get your valver sorted, mines the same, few little niggly probs, but its not undriveable, unlike my mates 220bhp escort which has spent the last 2 years in bits at the back of his dads garage! IMHO if you bought another RS it would have to be an absolute minter, otherwise itll be another money pit. I must admit though, sitting in my mates escort when that boost came in, was fookin mental!

feeling the same bout my clio.. hm 1.4rt, but im bored of it, sh*t roads round edinburgh for me but wen i go back to aberdeen theres ace roads for a wee blast along!

Once youve gone turbo I dont see how you could go back to N/A, turbos are so much fun. Itd take a special N/A engine to tempt me back I think.

buy a really slow car and run around in it for a while thn when u jump back in your valver itl seem really quick!
