help! i hit a pot hole...

  57 Ibiza Formula Sport
this morning on the way to work, i was driving along a single track country road, probably doing about 40mph, the road dips down at either side and you have to drive really on the edge to let other cars pass.

anyway, all of a sudden i heard this huge bang and i lost control of the car (1st time since owning it!) which sent me over to the other side of the road, thankfully there were no other cars around at that time. anyway, it sounded and felt like my front passenger wheel had bent in half and i had a flat tyre. i pulled in down a farmers track to have a look, which i was scared to do!

i couldnt see anything wrong with the wheels so i drove about a mile to work and had another look. the car drove fine and wasnt making any banging noises or pulling to the side.

this lunch time i went and took another look and ive noticed a bubble type lump in the front passenger wheel tyre, near where continental is written. the tyres havent deflated whatsoever but ive got this lump!

ive driven home from work now (about 30 miles) and the car seemed fine, im just worried ive buggered up the suspension or something?!

ta for any help! got to wait til 7 for the bf to get home and check!

You will probably need a new tyre at the very least. Tyres are what keeps your car in contact with the road and should be replaced if they get damaged because the last thing you want is a blowout when corning etc.

Nightmare, I hate bastarding pot holes. Sounds like it was a big one, maybe ring the council and tell them. See if you can make a claim ;)

Try not to drive over 40-50mph with a damaged tyre too.

Blowouts arent fun, You NEED to change the tyre if it had blistered/bubbled.
Never mind tread level.

Def need to get it changed, one more small bump and it will blow, happened to my sister.

You should always change them in pairs too due to uneven wear. Trust me, it makes a big difference and for the sake of £80 for an extra tyre its worth it.
You will be gutted if you have a blowout and crash because of it due to not changing the tyre.

did you get off at the kirkham/fleetwood jct or the B&Q/Tescos one?

the kirkham/fleetwood junction, i turn left go passed mini garage then right at the traffic lights and theres a country road down there to the left of a roundabout

Yeah I know where you mean :( it's not good. As said, get it change asap. Blowouts can be bad! You won't have a spare wheel either...doh!

Yeah very sensible to get it changed i once clobbered a kerb in my new fiesta years ago! and it left a big tear in the tyre - dont do what i did - glue it back with super glue and sell the car!!

Yes i really did that very important tyres :)

I would probably get it booked in to check for any damage as well.

Hopefully the wheel will still be straight also.
