The bump stop has probably been raised during fitting. Drive it around and should settle.

On with the front now and so far it has been easier than the rears, but im stuck with this and dont know how to remove it.

Remove the 17mm nut that holds the top mounts on.

Keep all the parts of the top mounts together and also the nut. Take not of how it all goes. (Bearing at the bottom, then rubber cup, then sleeve through the the top.)

New springs sits on the bottom cup of new shocks. Place top cup on. Make sure it's all sitting correctly in the cups. Place top mount thats all together on the top cup.

Push down on the top cup until the thread is shown and place the 17mm nut on top. You don't need spring compressors, juts a bit of muscle.

One the nut is on, tighten up.

Feed built up shock over the driveshaft. It may need pushing down as the new shocks will be longer than the coilovers and the anti roll bar will be fitting against you getting over the drive shaft.

Once over place bolts in lower shock and feed up the top through the turrets. Wind the top mount cap on but not tight.

Tighten lower shock bolts, refit abs sensor to pinch slot, wheels back on, drop car and tighten the top mounts fully. 21mm I believe.

Force. It will come undone.

Get someone to hold the shock while you undo the nut. Even hold the spanner on the nut and hit it/use another spanner to loop/extend the spanners so you have one long one for extra leverage.

It just twists the shaft. So you need 2 spanners on it at the same time.

OK. Does it have allen key tips on the coilovers?

Forget that, just looked at the pic. Use a spanner/adjustable spanner on the top of the coilover stem and then undo the top nut.

Thanks mate. I take it i need to buy a m14x1.5 seperatly ?

The picture of the top mount on ebay link looks different to mine. The very top part of mone seems to be all one piece with the bolt rather than seperate. If that makes sence?

Do you know if euro car parts would do the top mounts? And that bolt i need too as i could pick them up from there today and not have to wait.

Looking at the mounts they seem perished anyway so would be a good idea to replace them while im on.

It isnt the very top bolt i need that you can see from the engine bay at the turret on the very top of the top mount. Its the bolt that holds the shock and spring together.

Ah I see now.

Austin I have some spare shock bolts at home I think, but obviously you won't get them till early next week.

I'll check in a mo, if you want them?

The ebay ones are the revised part, the top mount rubber sits higher so it does not touch the body work when cornering.
The nut is m14X1 according to Renault so quite fine for a nut of that size, i edited the above.
Euro will be the old style.
and the nut has to be bought on its own

Am i getting confused here.

Ok, so the ebay link with the picture, that appears to be missing another bolt doesnt it? Or is that a new design where the bolt is seperate to the very top piece of the top mount?

Look at these pictures. My very top piece of top mount is all one part, it doesnt have a seperate bolt.

So its the bottom piece of the top mount that keeps the spring / metal cap in place that i need the bolt and cant get it off.

Thanks for your help mate. So, the bolt pictures in the ebay add. Is that the bolt for the damper /springs / metal cap and lower part of the top mount. Or is that the bolt that is the very final piece which you would see from the engine bay keeping the very top part of the top mount on?

Its the one you see from the engine bay and the bolt is separate on the new design.
I know renault say the tread pitch is 1 but looks like a 1.5, so would be worth checking as you may have some laying around.

Thanks mate. I cant work out why they are not sold with both bolts that you need then. So the bolt pictured on ebay advert is the very top part.

The bolt on my coilover currently that i need and get get free seems to have a collar piece on it too and not just a straight forward bolt. Unless im not looking properly.

That nut on the coil over is pain to remove as it likes to round off, if you can hold the top part of the shaft in a vice or with a spanner and put a ring spanner on the small nut then hit the spanner with a hammer it may crack lose or it may round off.
That collar peace is separate from the nut its called a half nut.

Ok mate, thanks again. ny ideas if Renault actually sell that bol seperatly then?
Why it doesnt come with new top mounts confuses me!

@Dr Jekyll is this the bolts you might have spare at home?

Update:

I took it to a garage and they took the nuts off for me in 2 minutes. I had £3.50 in my wallet and gave them that for helping me out. Ha
