Right ok. Just get an ethernet cable (one should of come with the 360) and plug it into the back of your NTL box and 360. Done. Forget that wireless router unless you want your 360 wireless, in which case you would need to buy an official wireless adapter for your 360 (about £60).

thats gonna need to be one long cable tho....

Whoops! Then in that case, I'd have a play with the wireless router. 'Technically,' you don't need a setup CD, as the 'setup' is retained as an HTML page within the router itself. Do you have an ethernet port on your PC? if so, connect the PC to one of the ethernet ports on your Belkin router. Your PC should detect that a network is now connected and you should see 2 little flashing PC's down on your taskbar (probably like when your connected to the net anyway.) Now (with your NTL box unplugged) open up your web broswer and type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. If nothing comes up, try 192.168.0.1 which is the Local IP of your router. One of those should work, and you will most likely be asked for a password. Now, all 3 of my routers have had a default password of 'admin.' You can now begin to setup your router. Assuming it's an ADSL wireless router (ie, with a ADSL modem built in, thus eliminating the need for your NTL box.) you will need to input your NTL username/password, VCI and VPI values, which you can phone NTL and ask for, but SHOULD be on a welcome pack letter, as broadband companies understand you might not of decided to go for their hardware. If you can get that wirless box running with the PC connected and be able to surf the net, THEN i'd see about the official 360 wireless adapter. Also, if you want to make your PC wireless too, then that link of the belkin adapter will be fine for your PC. Hope some of this helps.

you will need to use a router to share the Net access.

Best way of doing this is to take the cable that runs from your NTL box (Blue cable) to your computer (you might be using a USB cable, if so ditch this and get the ethernet cable)

Now plug in the router and plug in the blue cable into the Internet port (should be seperate to other slots on the back of the router). You should have the blue cable coming from the NTL box to the router. This sends the internet to there.

Now you can either go two ways, buy a wireless network adapter card and install it into your computer or run another ethernet cable from the router you current network card/port. If your running a cable you need to run a cable from the back of the router (should be some more ports seperate from the internet port - poss labeled 1,2,3,4....) and put the other end into the PC. This should then restore your network.

Once connected you may need to get some drivers/software however you can access most routers using the 192.168.2.1 or similar address. Im sure if you check the belkin site you can download a manual or get some help.

When you have internet working you can then set up the 360, this can be done by a long cable or a better option of wireless (being you have a wireless router)

To do this you will need an xbox360 wireless adapter

You can buy these from most Game shops etc... this plugs into the back of the 360 and you will have information on how to set it up with your router. That should then get your 360 online, and retain your online status for the internet.

Also if you have a laptop or another computer you can simply buy another network card and set it up in a similar way to share the same BB

so...

the cable from the hole in the wall goes into the modem.... (as it does now)

then an ethenet cable from the modem to the router... (at the moment it looks like a usb cable from the back of the modem to the pc)

then another ethernet cable from the router to the pc? (to replace the current usb one from the modem??)

this shoud keep the current internet connection working fine...

then get the xbox adapter, plug it in and away I go???

just reading this is giving me a head ache!! haha

Yeah, the 360 adapter just plugs into your 360, and sets itself up. So no need to fart about with that.

have you reset the modem after changing over to the ethernet connection

well done that man!! If I ever meet ya I'll buy you a beer!

next step...how do I make the wireles signal that the router is sending out secure?

edit: ok I think I may have made it secure now via WPA-PSK. does that sound right?

oh, yeah, I also now need to go and spend £60 on the xbox adapter!
