Help me! Help Me Please!!

I bought my clio at the beginning of january this year and I think ive located my first problem with it.

Ive just had some second hand cup wheels fitted on and I notice that every time I slow down nearly to a halt without using the brake or clutch, Ive got that feeling on the pedals but touching them where it just dont feel right like it should. The feeling is like my brake pads are worn out and are scratching against my brake discs but with no sound.

Would anyone know what this is?

I thought you were getting the sack at work?

(are ye sure the wheels are seated correctly? what about the pads being seated correctly also)

The only thing i can suggest, if its been doing ti since the wheels were fitted, make sure thet are fitted cirrectly., and nothing is rubbing / touching

Your April fool thread. I was trying to be facetious. Take the wheels off and spin the brake disc, it should be able to be turned smoothly with a small amount of resistance. Any irregular turning, like where its sticking at one point could indicate discs or pads problem.

Possibly the wheels need balancing.

Depends on how you brake, whether youve taken a knock or you could have a stone lodged in the pads. Strip the brakes and look at all the parts and reassemble. Easy job.

Nothings easy if I do it. How much will a garage charge? If im need to change pads. How much is that gonna cost?

Some one got charged over £100 at Renault here the other day. Kwik Fit will want about £40-50 I would have thought. P*** easy to do. Some one else will tell you how to do it as I could only tell you for a Saxo. Basically take the bolts out of the caliper piston, pull it off, replace pads and spring clip, push piston back into cylinder, replace caliper piston.

Ive just looked at my discs for a brief second and they look fine. Will have to take it to a garage then and see if they can resolve the problem. Im not 100% sure its the breaks though

take it to a garage and most will do a free brake check and then they can check your pads for life left, discs for warpin and they will wheel nut gun the wheels on tight when theyve finished

SORRY BEING REALLY LAZY HERE AND CANT B BOTHERED TO READ ALL DA POSTS...

but on my old 306, after i was involved in an RTA the car was fixed but the wheelbaring kept on going.. everytime i put the brakes on i heard (and so some extent felt thru my right foot) the brakes grinding. maybe the alloys have initiated a problem with the wheelbaring? do ure brakes also feel not very sure footed? coz mine did wen the wheelbaring was gone! (it went 3 times in total, but was fitted under warrenty coz of the crash!...i was told by a renault parts expert that their about £230 each! on mine i went thru 3 of them, but not thru ne fault of my own!!!)

the brakes are performing fine. Its just theres a slight howling noise from them when I slow down without using them.

Yes Liam, I did get the rims from Sm00thie. All I need now is a 172 Bodykit and a K-tec zorst like yours but not as loud.
