help me please.....!

had my 93 rt serviced 2 weeks ago - cost 356!!

anyhow- 2 days later the car wont start! - try again 3 hrs later and it starts (just about). it wasnt the battery becoz eveything else electrical worked- the car just wdnt turn over.

took it back to the garage and they had a look sed it might be the igntion barrel....

has been starting ok...until today. would not start! came back half hour later and it started (just about)

anyone else had this problem.. i dont really want to take it abck to the garage as i am runnin low on cash... how hard wud it be to replace the igntion barrel- is it something i can take out of another clio at a scrappies?

pleassssse help me...

does it make a scrapy noise when trying to start? it could be the starter motor on the way out, id be surprised if it was anything to do with the ignition barrel. starter motor fitted costs about £120

Mine made an awful noise and wouldnt start sometimes - went on for ages.. was the starter motor!

It was turning at an angle, so sometimes, when it was jammed in, it took MEGA power to spin.. the battery couldnt do it.

Best thing ever changing that starter.. (but I was 99% sure that was it!)..

hmmm, sort of, when it decides not to start, theres a couple of clickin sounds and quiet whirring noises- but not turnover.

if it is the starter motor, is it something i can take out of a donor car? or does it have to be brand new?

on the valver the starter motor is a nightmare cos theres no room and you rip your hands off, unless you drop the exhaust first.

Sounds stupid but have you checked your battery terminal connections and the earth?...just a thought and a quick one to eliminate.

its definetly not the battery, had it checkd and its runnin fine...

are we sure it cud not be the ignition barral here?

if its the starter motor - can i take it out of another clio??

yes you can get one off another clio,

it shouldnt cost much either, bout £30 or less im guessing !

but they may want an exchange from your old one, so that they have some tihng to rebulid !

I got a new one.. £104 from Renault, £20 rebate when I took my old one back..

I changed it myself - on the front of the engine.. very easy to change. (1.2 DIET Engine)

grrrr, god damn car... after i give it a nice treat with a 350 pound service it treats me like sh*t and demands more spenditure on it"!
