Help my clio

Hi I have 1.4 Renault Clio. It flashed up check injectors lost power. I pulled over as I was on motorway at time.. Car will not start. AA man said looks like cambelt..?????????

Ok. Thanks is this an expensive job... First garage it was towed to after I broke down on MOTORWAY lol said it would be £600. Waiting to bring to Another garage ( my own ) for them to check it out...

If the cambelt has slipped then yes, it's extremely expensive. It's a £400 job alone just to get it changed at the interval. If it's slipped or broken then chances are the valves have smashed themselves. Pistons are f**ked and so on. Leaves you with the options of getting the top engine rebuilt or a donor engine dropped in.

easy way to check is take the oil filler cap off and swing it, if the cams turn then the belt has not broken...
