HELP NEED TO SORT SUSPENSION RIDE HEIGHT RALLY CAR

  Clio 172, BMW Mini
H everybody, brand new here as I have only just joined the 172 club. Having purchased a Ph 1 172 ( Jan 2001 ) from flea bay, and having driven 175 miles to collect it, I find a few things I haven't been told about, firstly and mainly the thing has been lowered, as the car will be used as a navigational Road Rally car this is a no no, as it will be driven down some lanes that are more landrover territory.

So I need some springs, the only ones I can find are from a 2005 182 cup, will these fit ? and are they lower than standard height, or are they stiffer standard height which would be ideal, the springs on it are red and looking at other threads could well be Eibach sportline, plus car looks slightly lower at front than rear, and Eibach do a 45 / 30 kit which would be about right.

I would be happy to do a swap with somebody wanting a bit lower car and had some standard height preferably uprated springs, or would buy them and sell mine whatever, plus any advice re suitability of cup springs gratefully received.

Other snags it has a stainless backbox on with a large oval tailpipe, which will get dragged off in a lane, would do a swap with something more sensible, in stainless, prefer not standard backbox, also has pipercross filter, that will collect water in fords, would do swap standard airbox + cash your way especially if it has K&N panel in it.

finally somebody thought it would like nicer without the rear wiper, so removed it, I will of course need one, anybody in Plymouth Devon, or not far away, that can help with any of above would be brilliant, or whatever, would have been nice if I had known this before doing a 550 mile round trip, as I wouldn't have bought it, it was cheap though.

Cheers Chris

Hi, Sounds like typical Ebay unfortunately :(! I cant help with any of the parts I'm afraid but if no one can come up with any swap's then I would try a trader on here called Cliospares. I think they will have all the parts you need in stock and there prices are reasonable. Then just put the bits you take off on here and i'm sure they'll sell well. Hope that helps :)

Sound like sportlines. The Clio does have a forward rake as standard also. All RS springs are interchangeable, so no issues just sourcing springs to suit. 172 Cup have white/yellow markings these are stiffer than regular 172 springs. Cupped springs weather 172/182 are 3mm (lol) lower.
