EDIT - viper has caf as well, i know how to fit that, just dont understand which bits of the existing airbox/throttle body i need to remove!

looks to me...like ya take the air box off. now get ur pipe and throw it away apart from the fat rubber hose.and connect 1 end to the thingy-me-bob, and the other end to the induction kit...if it fits.

Remove all within the red, so you are left with the bare throttle body, the silicone elbow fits to that. Also you will need a breather filter to fit onto the idle valve(top left of the air box.

Also beneath the throttle body is an oil breather, you will need to attatch that to something, ideally back into the intake pipe.

What is a breather filter and oil breather?

I was told when i was sold the following that it would be all i needed to fit a induction kit (so long as the induction kit fits)

The 2 sensors, the far left is the idle valve, a small breather to be fitted to this( imagine a miniature k and n filter, about £5 from halfords) and the other sensor is the throtle posistion(i think, that does not get affected or moved as its plugged into the throttle body).

It is what you need to fit an induction kit, just you need a couple other small bits also. Best ask matt what he did in regards to the oil breather in the head.

Matt left it with nothing attached, apparently a lot of people do. will the oil breather affect performance in any way?

I was hoping adding a closed induction kit would give slightly more performance (0.5hp at most) whilst still maintaining a nice sound

The prob you may have is oil getting onto the manifold and burning, plus the smell can get into the cabin.

Ok, seems a bit complicated to me, especially as i cant imagine how to expose the throttle body (take the black box out).

I changed the air filter myself before and that was simple, just cant imagine how the rest of the airbox is removed and where to put the breather etc.

as chris say remove all the part in the red
then remove the icv top left plug in the pic form the air box held with 2 small torqes head screws.
aloso a breatherpipe that needs to be conected into ur induction pipe or small filter needs tobe fitted.

on them the icv and breater both reconet to the induction pipe.

The chamber at the back (big black box) is held on by 2 6mm bolts (10mm head) IIRC. either side of the inlet.... may be a few others but dont seem to remember any.. anyway, once its loose you have to try and wiggle it out through the RHS where the filter sits. You will need to take the bit that holds the filter off, and the filter out. dont be afraid to use FORCE as its an arse. Can bar the engine forward a bit to help as well.

Ok, think i understand that the airbox simply needs to be removed and the new piping fitted. I dont think ill fully understand how to do this till i get in the engine and start ripping it apart :)

But still bit confused over where the filter/breather pipe needs to be fitted and where the ICV sensor is currently fitted.

There shud be a stabbin' in the bottom of your new pipe, which is where the crank case breather from the engine goes, its dead simple, you cant get it wrong... if there isnt a stabbin' on your new pipe then just stick a small filter in the breather, will be fine.

The ICV, is the small solenoid on the LHS of the airbox at the back. remove it before you take the box out, but this will need a small breather filter on it also.

All will be clear when you start pulling it apart:) just make sure you have patience, its a bit tight.

My pipes have no holes or 'stabbins'

i think just multi sized sockets and extensions, when i bought my car it already had the filter removed so i don't know the whole process.

iirc you need to take engine mount off so engine can rock forward enough to get existing filter box thing out, jack under sump obviously :D

didnt take my mont off to fit it managed to pull my airbox out with no problems.
its easy to fit will try and stick some pics up of mine fitted.

Unscrew the bottle in the right hand side of the picture to give you more room.

Its a lot easier if you remove the piece of plastic that has the OE filter inside.
This has 2 black screws holding it on at the top. Remove them and it should wiggle out.

Might be worth getting a set of torx drivers and sockets as this will make it a lot easier to remove. Once you move the standard air box it will be easy to see where the breather filter needs to go. And buy another to cover the idle valve.
