help needed..

but yeah my car is making a funny noise at high revs and arround 60mph in 3rd and 4th.. 4th is were it makes the most noise.

and today when it did it i could smell burning...

02 172 btw.. 48.000 miles.

it goes when i put it in 5th its just thouse 2 gears.
