Is it possible to change the oil filter on a 172 without draining the oil?

My dealer didnt change the oil filter when they put in new oil last week.

Can I jack the car up to stop oil getting out?

any help is appreciated!!

Thanks

You can change the filter without draining the oil. There will be some slight spillage but not a great deal. You might as well do the oil again as well though - at least you know its been done right then.

not much matey - id just put a few rags under the old oil filter and have the new one ready to bang on as soon as you have taken the old one off. Put a few on the floor as well are an old tub or something. Remember to use a genuine oil filter 8200033408 - £6.20 from renault though !!:D
