Help oil leak

My 182 seems to have developed a oil leak and it seems to be coming from one the rocket cover bolts, do the bolts come with some sort of seal and am sure its very easy to change just wondering why its start form there

the rocker cover bolts do not have a very high torque setting as it is, but whats probably occured is either a few bolts have loosened and causing the leak OR the rocker cover gasket has got hard and brittle and will need replacing. Either way an easy fix.

The seals are rubish on the the cam cover and its a long job to do its 7 hour work officialy.

You can have a check see if there tight it has worked a little mre pressure on the nuts however the heads ali so its easy to mess it up and go make a big mess of it.

edde what gasket are you talking about here? We talking about the rocker/cam cover right? How is removing the engine cover, inlet plenum and tb a 7hr job?! Im a little confused. The head gasket....then yeah 7hrs+ rocker cover 7hrs? I just want this clarified .... seems a little over kill to me

The rocker cover directly holds the Cams in on 172/182s etc!! Thats why!

Your on about the inlet manifold but they don't leak, the leaks from the rocker/cam cover.

TomTom - I wasnt aware the cam/rocker cover held down the cams on the 172/182. I wasnt on about the Inlet manifold. I was simply mentioning that this was to be removed in the process.

You said its an easy job to do and its not as I said. Other piped up knowing very little on the subject and tried to put me down only to be proved wrong.

yep 7hour job just to squirt some sealant in! (try taking the bolt out that you think is leaking, squirt some silicone gasket stuff in and re fit bolt)

i know why a lot of them leak, the sealant is applied in the factory by a paint roller! so even coverage never happens!

Yeah it does, hence the hefty book time nearly 7 hours. You ask below why does it take 7 hours, because the rocker/cam cover holds the cams in. Like you say, nothing todo with the inlet manifold, you can just unbolt that.
