HELP!!! Oil Pressure Warning Light

  182 Trophy 019/500
I was on my way out this evening, got a couple of hundred meters down the road and the 'STOP' and oil warning light came on.

I quickly switched it of, then tried to start it again. Lights stayed off. Drove another few hundred meters, came on again.

I stopped the car and checked the oil level, it was all ok its still on the MAX level. I then started it again and left it to idle for about 5mins. Light didn't come on. So i decided I didn't wanna drive it any further so I turned around and started going home and it came on twice again, each time after a few hundred meters or so.

Once I got it home I left it to idle for 5 mins again, still no light. However, if you blip the throttle and leave it at about 2000rpm the light comes on.

Does this sound like a fault with the oil pressure sensor?

Also to make sure the oil was moving around the engine i wiped all the excess oil off the bottom of the oil filler cap, started it and left it to idle for a few mins and checked the bottom of the cap again and there was oil on there so it's obviously being moved around the engine.

Any other ideas?

it could be low brake fluid/and pads

Really? Is that the light it brings on? I know my pads are lowish but my brake fluid is filled to max (Dealer topped it up at service when i purchased the car). If it was this would the lights come on even when not moving?

In a way I hope it is pads, the cars in used car warranty still i just don't want it to be anything major.

it the fluid is topped up, then it won't be that

my STOP and OIL light filckeres on when cornering with low brake fluid/worn pads

as you pads wear, the fluid level drops in the resivoir, hence the light comes on, you should replace pads at this point
