hi people im lookin to buy a clio 172 sport not the cup it will be my first one hope its a good choice cause i really like them im lookin at it this weekend so can i have some info wht to look for any things major so i no i will be havin a good one thank you

check the rear silencer is in good nick, mine fell of 3 days after buying it and my mate had the same problem, apparrently quite commmon,

Check for accident damage check for serviving as the cambelts expensive.

Check it brakes and goes straight

Check all the bits work.

check the bodywork and interior for damage , a good warranty will cover the car from a reputable garage , private sale then take someone who knows their stuff .

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I have just sold mine and I wouldn't buy another.
I went from a Honda civic to a 172 and the reliability difference was immense. I will say that the 172 was a lot more fun though.
If you do go for the clio then pay good money and get a mint example.
Look for:
Full service history including cambelt change
Good tyres
Unmarked interior
Exhaust - check back box and cat for cracking
Check hot/cold is ok on climate control

There are so many small things that can go wrong though it is impossible to check them all. The newer the car the better I'd say.
