help on getting a clio sport

  182
if i want 1 i'll have to get 1 on finance from a garage and im 20 so i have to pay 1300 for insurance.

Do you think this is all worth the money?

or what else cud i do?

or what other car could i get?

The first thing i'd say is dont bother getting one on finance from a garage unless its a decent rate, get a bank loan instead, its likely you'll get a better rate. It depends on what model you are looking to get, how old it will be, what the APR on the loan will be etc.

I wouldnt want to get financed up on an old 172 at 19% for the next 5 years for example, but if there was a tidy cup or 182 about and you get a decent finance deal and can affod it without being skint, then go for it.

They are great cars, but not great enough to be skint for years to come to be honest.

Can you not save for one? Ph1s are going for just over £2k now so if you can put £500 a month for four/five months you'll have enough to buy one outright and you're then not paying over the odds for a 9 year old car. Plus how long do you honestly think you'd keep the car for?

Is that £1300 TPFT or fully comp?

£1300 doesn't seem bad at all for a 20 year old on a 182 fully comp.

So is it a 182 you're after or would you consider a 172? If you would then I'd recommend you look at them. [worms]At least with the ph1 you are getting more car for less money[/worms]. Obviously choice is yours, but I'd avoid finance or debt if you can help it.

I wouldn't pay £1300 insurance for a Clio. Maybe something a bit lower down the insurance table but still as much fun. 106GTI/Saxo VTR/VTS or something?

I got a loan for mine, it was a better deal than any finance from a garage. How many years no claims do you have?

My insurance was over a grand, but once i moved up to 4 years no claims it dropped to just under 700quid (im 23 though....and female :p so that might be why there is a difference too)

if you feel you can afford it, go for it!! I was hankering after a RS ever since i passed my test but i couldnt afford it. once the (boyfriends) payrise kicked in i was there!

Think about it. £1300 is ONE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED POUNDS A YEAR to drive a small French hatchback!

My friend is looking into buying a 944 Porsche and that's only £100 more...

As said though, if you really want it, try and avoid garage arranged finance. I bought mine (and my insurance for the year) on a credit card. I pay £140 a month in repayments to the credit card, and that's above the minimum payment...

If you can, then do it.

You need to sit down and work out how much you earn a month, and then minus £130 a month for insurance (Or whatever the rate is) and all the other crap. I personally wouldnt get a car on finance unless i only had say £2-3k to pay off over 2 years, fortunately i have parents who loan me money on a 0% rate.

If itll skint you then dont bother.
