Help: Passenger door playing up?

Rob

Ok, so the new car has a few niggles (most of which have developed within the first 24 hours of my ownership (doh)) and I do realise this is my second "help me" thread tonight....

Symptoms are as follows,

Locked the car last night, got in it this morning, mrs couldnt get in passenger door, but I opened it no problems from the inside. This has continued to happen and I could no longer open the passenger door from the outside.

Get home and play with the mech (in the door) and then I got it to close, and open! but then the door would no lock, no matter what, whether using the fob, or using the interior button, the rest of the car would lock and the passenger door wouldn't?

Please help me CS

No body???

Someone must have experienced this!

My first thought is that the CL is not activating the mechanism in the door? But I have no idea why it would randomly cut out....

Rod to high up in the clip? Care to elaborate?

Nothing to do with when the handles is being pulled up, if I unlock the car, walk around to the pass side, and try to open it no joy, but it can be opened from the inside....

Thing is, I've now discovered that the handle does work, its just that the door is not actually unlocking..... which is why the interior handle can open it, but once you close it, its locked again so exterior handle does not work :(

Anything could be causing this?

I have a problem with my door not locking with the central locking. Works fine with the key.

JD said to loosen the 3 bolts in the sill up, the lock will drop down abit and spray some WD40 in there, should stop it from sticking. He even got it to work today with a fiddle!

Doesn't work now though.

Seems captain forearms is the man to speak to!

I'll have to have a good look at the weekend I guess.

Could be the wiring loom between door/dash is loose. Check the connector

The loom where though mate? In the passenger footwell behind the plastic?

  ?
Ok.

Passenger footwell, there should be a lego block type rubber connector going to the door. Check both sides, I know sometimes this can come loose etc. I have fed uprated speaker wire through the tubing so had to make some adjustments maybe it is loose?

I had a simular problem and then realised i hadnt replugged the loom in :)

If its a locking issue, then it has to be down to the wiring along the line.. Did you notice if you knocked or fiddled with any wires while fixing the opening mech for the door handles?

None at all mate, as the locking mech is on the end of the door, not near any wires, thing is, (see my latest thread on it) if i HOLD DOWN the central locking button inside the car, it eventually locks/unlocks, but the key won't do it.

I can both unlock and lock the door this way, but when locked, the key won't unlock it, and when unlocked, the key wont lock it....

I am a bit lost tbh mate...?

Will have to have the door card off and have a good look in the daylight I guess.

I've had a little search people seem to suggest taking door card off etc and checking connection to the solenoid. I hope its as simple as this... Although I hate taking the door cards off etc. :(

I know amigo, I had them off the old one MANY times, but I always get the feeling they get worse fitting the more you take them off... silly I know, but still.

Hopefully it is just the solenoid, even if its had it there not to expenive iirc, even be able to get one from a breakers off any clio with CL I would assume... I couldnt think of anything else it would be, seeing as only the one door is effected by this..

Thing is mate, if its just the solenoid, why can I sometimes randomly lock it by holding down the lock button inside the car? I think it may have something to do with the mech the solenoid triggers, ah well, guess I'll find out again, the mech the solenoid triggers will be the same on any clio/laguna with CL.

How long we talking having to hold down the CL button inside the car? Does it make a beep before it locks? The beep is to indicate activation and deactivation of RAID, if the car locks after the beep it could be an issue with RAID? UHC issues I would assume in this case.. This may also explain why you are unable to open the door from outside..

Edit: But RAID only activates when your moving over 5mph so thats probably not the issue! Dam

I was thinking that, I read about the RAID thing, and yes I think it is when that is activating? Although I can't be sure as I dont think that works to lock it all the time?

But the thing is, i'm not getting a beep as such, because its already on, so it's just a case of pressing lock, it "clicks" then hold it for a bit, it "clicks again" and sometimes it looks? Couldnt tell you if its all the time though?

Man I'm so confused with this one, when I'm out there I can get the door to unlock permenantly, or lock permenantly, but not easily, its more of a fluke, keep trying things til it doesnt lock any more, then keep trying things until it locks (this is the scary one as I dont want to leave the door open all night) lol!
