HELP Please - 172 dashlight - is it bad?

  Car SOLD :-(
Started up my phase 1 172 this morning after a short drive to the cash point.
The ABS light went off after a few seconds as usual, but the symbol to the right has stayed on:dapprove: Looks like a gearbox/transmission symbol. Is it serious???

Hope someone can help. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

Anyone please? Worried it's serious.
Don't want to take it to the local Renault garages as they're all S**T!

which symbol is it? cos the one for exhaust emmisions looks like its transmission/gearbox - consult your renault handbook it has all the symbols in there and the meanings if its exhaust emmisions dont worry, if its gearbox transmission have oil levels checked out

little bit of black tape should do the trick ;)

best way would be to pop it down to a local specialist with a CLiP machine if your unsure of what the error light is regarding. i know my local charges 20quid for a CLiP diagnostic which isnt too bad

The picture may make it clearer. Any ideas would be great, so I don't sound like a plank when I find a garage!
Red circle added to show symbol.

Looks like gearbox light to me - get it checked out at Renault - you don't need to use em to fix it should it be needed

Looks like its the exhaust lambeda sensor have failed or shorted etc you need someotn to fidn what the problem is with a computer.

Thanks Guys. Had a feeling it may be Lamada sensor related. Seems to be a common fault - amongst many!!!!!
