Help please. running problem

  vectra 1.8 turbo
hi guys & girls.

Just wondering if you can help me here. my mum bought a clio not long ago. she got it dirt cheap, so i expected some problems.

well when the car is running and you rev it, when you take your foot off the peddle it carries on revving for a little bit. what could be the cause of this?? any ideas would be great.

The clio is a 1.2 8v. 1994 L reg.

thanks peeps

Well my initial thought would be throttle butterfly is coked up (full of black s**t)

Take the air intake tubing off and look inside the throttle body at the butterfly then open it and see if theres dirt around the edges, is there is use Carb Cleaner as instructed on the can and it should clear most of it.

Other than that, i'd try checking the throttle cable to see if it's kinked/squashed anywhere which might be slowing down the sprung return on the throttle body.

Would need to see it to give more detail/help.
