  Mazda 2, MX5 Mk2.5 Sport

The GFs brother has just changed his stereo in his 172 and now the car wont start and the service light comes on.

I told him to try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it but still no joy he has also tried putting the old stereo back in but that didnt work either, he says it makes a buzzing noise but the car wont turn over.

anyone got any ideas please???

Did he remember to leave the radio tuned into Classic Fm? All of the electronics are linked......and if he didnt thats his problem the ECU has got upset, now if he takes another radio outside and plays Classic Fm at it at full blast..........

Well, itll just look stoopid wont it ;):p

But honestly..... I dont know what could be wrong, erm he was careful that he didnt disturb any other cables when removing the stereo?

Dont think he was TBH but hes changed the stereo before and not had any probs....he did say that hes left some power cables taped up that used to go to his amp so i think he might have a short somewhere??

is there any way to reset the ECU??? incase its just an imoboliser prob

I asked him if he checked the fuses....he said they were all ok, plus the stereo still works so I dont think its a fuse
