apply/remove weight to the rear suspension????

i thought that that bar was welded???

I have got both bolts halfway out is that a big , prob cannot move both of them now , its just a sh*tty bar that really does nothing

Gregg

its a structural part youll find out e bolts are pretty big,put the back seats forward and put the end of a jack or something onto your drive/spanner.

make sure the bar is loose to move if it is just give it some muscle

its not a structural part of the car, if it was it would be bolted in more than 2 places, and be bolted in places other than the boot floor where it doesnt do anything

its the bar to support the luggage net AFAIK

i removed mine, no problems with the car afterwards, as have many many people, as for your problem gregg, i can only recommend tapping the top of the nut with a hammer (tap, not belt) then try and undo the bolts, failing that, ratchet and socket, with a large iron bar to get more leverage and remove it that way

HTH

its called a reinforcement bar which makes its a structaral part.if it was to support a luggage net would they use something that weighs more than the back seats and has bolt big enough to hold engine mounts on!

trust me on this one,

its not structural

as i say, many people on here have removed the bar and had no issues whatsoever, even people that have visited the nurburgring and spa, not one issue as far as im aware from them, i removed mine within hours of getting the car, as it got in the way of my ice install

if it is questioned in the mechanical forum..... someone will answer it as i have above

just look at y0z2as cup, it doesnt have the bar, he has done the most trackdays out of everyone on here as far as i know (maybe some of the williams boys have done more) and he has suffered no ill effects from doign it

correct me if im wrong i never said its a rear strut brace or anything of the sort did i?i said its a structural part, reinforces the rear seats.i never said dont take it out, i never said you have to put it back in all i said was its a structural part to explain why the bolts are so big.

structural doesnt just mean suspension and b pillars etc as im sure you will know

but arnt the rear springs held in buy those bolts??? (thats why they are that big??)

  Polo + Micra

lol its just i took one of those bolts out and it was dirty on the end and thought it was for them

they go right through the floor i think which would probobly explain that.ive never yet had a reason to take the rear springs of so i couldnt tell you 100%.

good earthing points for any subs/amps by the way!

its there to stop luggage hitting the rear seat under large breacking, nothing structural to the car,the bolt are large due to the fact the a suitcase flying forward whe emergency breacking from 70mph will create a large force.
