I went to finish wiring up my sub and amp to the headunit when i noticed that the remote cable from the amp does not have anywhere to plug in?! :S Do i have to buy an adaptor for this cable or do i have to bodge job it in somewhere? Please help if you know :)

Cheers

what i mean is.. theres a cable that runs from the amplifier
called the remote cable (i think) cause it says remote on the amp and it runs down the side and up into the headunit but theres nowhere to plug it into?! Know what i mean?

Yes, you need to join this to the remote output from the headunit. I can't remember the colour but it's probably a blue or orange cable. Will be flagged 'remote'.

thats the problem. the headunit didnt come with any cables or anythin as the original cables fitted straight into the new headunit. think i must need to buy a different adaptor

What colour are the wires on the Sony units plugs. Dont worry about
the speaker plug.

lol.they sell them, dont mean they cant sort it cos they cant order spare parts from them.

right a lot of the cheaper sony's have the remote lead already wired up.
if you look in your instruction manual it should tell you which colour is remote lead (if it has one) if not you will need to use the ignition wire off the hu (red one) you will need to connect the remote lead to the ignition wire if it does not have a remote lead on the unit.
i would suggest using the ignition lead as from personal experience with fitting this 1 and the gt100 the remote lead is pants and only works when the cd is on.

am sorry but am really not gifted when it comes to electrics n stuff and that sounds like a lot of hard work :( lol ive had such a nightmare trying 2 get this bloody sub and amp workin. already had another headunit that didnt work either :O

  No wheels :(
Ok, I have had to do this about 4 times now...

The Remote lead is a blue one, quite light, and can have a white stripe.

This usually goes into the adpater which is wired to the car from the headunit.

PULL THIS OUT!!

It wont affect the car or head unit in anyway...

This then must be connected to the Amplifer's Remote output lead, i just used wirecutters to them both, then use some good electrical tape.

This then enables the amplifer to 'Remotely' turn on via the headunit as soon as the headunit does, rather than having to get out of your car, go into the boot and turn it on manually from there.

This is what all the garages do, its easily fixable so do not worry if you want to re-sell the Headunit at a later date.

PM me if you want any more info or pics...

Cheers, Sam

lol would be better using bullet connector crimps or at least a connector block, bit of electrical tape is hardly forming a secure connection is it?
