HELP!! Starting problem

This has been going on a bit now but tonight it just would start straight after I switched off the engine. Usually to get it started I would move the gearstick about a bit and it would start, but tonight nothing. Could this be low gearbox oil crank sensor or the starter being a bit loose

Do you mean you turn the key and it doesn't even crank over?
