Help steering problem

  172 Exclusive

I have a clio 16v phase 1 and the steering has got a bit of play in it in the universal joint at the bottom of the steering colomn.

Has any one done this job what is it like to change and what is needed to do it can you just get a new joint or do you have to buy a steering coloumn.

Cheers

New steering column if you want to do it properly. It is possible to just weld that joint up but I wouldnt reccomend it for saftey reasons.

There are no safety issues to speak of, I think everyone is a little paranoid on this forum, worried about collapsable parts in a crash (or something).

I had an accident that made my Williams a total loss. The impact to the front which was sufficient to tear the welds between chassis members.. yet the column didnt break, collapse, or make a mess of my face.

One of the first steps in prepping a Clio for rallying is to weld the column up!

Get it done, save yourself a bundle - looking at about £20-30.
