Help us with some market research (AN fittings and hoses) Advocult motorsport

Hi everyone!

Firstly i would like to introduce our company ADVOCULT MOTORSPORT, we specialise in AN fittings and hoses and we are building our profile of car specific kits.
The clio platform is a very popular track day car of choice so we assume you guys also enjoy a good amount of engine tuning too. We need to learn what the most common modifications are where AN fittings and hoses would be used, things like throttle body kits, turbo conversions, adding oil or gearbox coolers, injector and fuel rail upgrades.

We would really appreciate it if some of you could give us some examples of the modifications you have already done, or what you are planning for the future!

I run a Clio 197, Megan 265 engine, 225 box running 320/340. Nearly all the items you mention above, I have on my car, but certainly, the idea of a Kit appeals If you haven't already, I would ask the same question on RSMegane forum.

182 turbo conversion kits would be nice. Id definitely be interested as I'll be just piecing it together with AN fittings otherwise

Yes off the shelf kits for the clio would be very well recieved.
We mainly have to order separate parts from separate companies and make up our own mods.
Oil cooler kits with sandwich plates, full braided fuel lines from the tank with fuel rails would be a nice start. Also there are full braided brake line kits but the manufacturer is not what you would call
Prompt at getting them to you.
Possibly one good upgrade would be better high and low pressure steering rack pipes as they always leak no matter how tight you nip them. Maybe with an integrated oil cooler as they boil the fluid on track.

This is great information so far guys! The power steering issue sounds like an interesting easy kit to start with.

Does the Clio ever suffer with fuel starvation under heavy cornering? And do many people opt to install a surge tank?

I dont think there are any options regarding swirl pots unless PureMotorsport make them. PureMotorsport and KtecRacing are the 2 main companies regarding mods off the shelf.
I personally dont think I have ever suffered from fuel starvation though even on slicks.
Because of the PSF boiling most have to remove the pipe work and pump and fit the Electric power steering column off a DCI diesel clio with a looped steering rack with blanked off ports. Which looses the origional drivability and steering feel, but loses alot of weight out of the car.

Definitely another one for some sort of powersteering clooler would be an great! Absolute PITA cleaning and topping it up all the time.

So as a bit of pre-emptive work before my test car arrives, can you guys confirm that it is hose 7 on the diagram that is the issue? also does the problem extend to the sensor port part too? (number 8)

Looking at the diagram our best option is to replace line 13 as well (this line will house the cooler)

Cant quite make out what's what on the diagram, iirc does the high pressure line not go from pump to rack to reservoir?

Sure this diagram is for a 172 not a 182, not 100% sure on the differences though.

High pressure is always pump to rack. Low pressure is always rack back to reservoir.

Twingo 1??

  Twingo 133 Cup,
I don't have a clio (got a Twingo) but would an internal fuel line kit be good as more and more 172/182 are becoming rally cars so the lines have to be run inside. Just a thought!

Yes the next step after the power steering kit would likely be an internal surge tank and full replacement lines kit.

That one is very simple to assemble

Would this surge tank house the pump aswell? So we can fit updated pumps properly?

The full pump, float and sender is in the tank as one unit
Yes, using the nuke performance surge tank you can fit up to 3 internal pumps. They do a great lower budget tank that we have recently used on our car too. We have a single walbro gst450 fitted and that is more than enough for 500hp

Once we have the sample car in this weekend and we have got through the ps kit I will make a start on the surge tank kit straight away

Hey guys! Our test car we were meant to be collecting this weekend fell through. Is there anyone on here local to Birmingham who would be willing to donate their 182 for a week so we can assemble the kit?

You would get a free kit in exchange 🤗

Hahaha. Well this is my first Clio so I am no expert in this platform but I do know hoses. If you can show me where people normally connect the feed on these engines I can work it out for you
My turbo oil feed is just a Tpiece that goes between the oil pressure switch and the block then up to the turbo.

Hi Dave. Do you have a photo of the oil pressure switch? I can work out a hose while ours is in bits.
Btw I can see why people say the PS hose is a horrible job. It was a nightmare getting that thing off!
