**HELP! VERY IMPORTANT 16V QUESTION**

Right, thought my clutch went at the weekend but apparently its the gearbox which will cost a lot to get repaired so im looking at a cheaper solution to get it fixed and last long enough to get rid of it.

Basically i want to know what other gearboxes would fit a 1.8 16v? E.g secondhand 1.4 box? Would the driveshafts fit ok with this setup?

Please help ASAP.....

I have the same problem mate. gunna cost about 500 to fix it with a recon box. Thats what i have got from a few places.

Cheers folks - as said above, it really just needs to last long enough to flog it at an auction or something so if a 1.4 would fit, itd be great! :D

whats actually up with your box? if the diff centre has come adrift due to the circlip coming out most of the time if the teeth arent damaged you can refit it using a new circlip.most jb boxes should fit but later jcs might also fit.

all clio 16vs have a jb 3 series box with different bell hosuing to match the ally sump. the only other gearbox that is same is used on the 19 16v. the williams gear box runs same bell housing but different casing, with a beefier gear set. all other f series engines run a tin sump upto about 98-99. find a second hand clio/19 16v box. the arse of ache of trying to find another box is not worth the hassle
