Help with CD changer wire...

  Ford Fiesta

I will be fitting my VDO Dayton renault changer under the drivers seat of my 182 it came out of my dynamique with cassette where it worked by the remote control and was fully compatible.

My 182 with have the sat nav but i presume the fittings are the same to the rear of the cd headunit?

I need to know what wire to order that goes from the small wire coming out of the cd changer (shown in the picture below) to the rear of the headunit so it all works ok. Does anyone have part number etc?

thanks for any help.

Just to get this straign is that picture of the wire which used to connect your cd changer to the tape player head unit?

Was that conector in the picture was the one plugged into the cd unit?

Soory to sound stupid but my cd changer cable is completly different so I need to be sure.

If that cable is the one which went into the cd changer and at the other ends there a square conector which went into the back of the tape player then you should be fine.

edde thanks for the reply. The chnager cable in the first pic is about 10 inch long, one end screwed into the changer by a small square block the other is the pic connector as in the pic.

So i presume when it was in dynamique there was another wire connecting from the grey wire to the headunit (if this is where it goes) however when I asked for it taking out of my dynamique they never took that wire, just unplugged the changer and the grey wire.

As you can see from this picture, also it has the clio mounting bracket so will go straiht into the 182, just need the wire from the grey wire to the back of the 182 cd player/sat nav so it works off remote and shows on display etc.

Are right I think I understand.

Youll need a cable that goes from the cd changer (ie the rectangular bit on the cd changer to the head unit.

Its £90 from Renault and trying to get another isnt easy (I know Ive tried)

The cd changer in the dynamic of yours is an aftermarket one thats why you sort of have two cable the normal one has one cable from the head unit to the cd changer.

The drawing hopefully makes sence below.

Your cd changer looks different than the one in the drawing but I imagine its the same rectangular connector see drawing at bottom (ok its not very good but should give you the idea). If so then you need the cable Ive marked on the first drawing. I have a spare one but Im not 100% sure all the connectors are working (long story). You can have it but being as its a bit short (5ft although it will fit) it migh be better trying a scrappie etc for one from a 172 etc.

ok thanks thats helpful. They said they would fit the cd changer for free to my 182, but i dont want to leave it til a few days before i pick car up as they are unlikely to get the cable in time. So this cable I need to order 82 00 085 591 will work with the sat nav and show the cd changer and make it work of the remote etc...?

I will look at the square bit on my changer as going by what you say this small grey wire will be chucked away when they get the full wire. It does look very square not rectangular though?

PS whats that bit on your diagram above the sentence "the cable you left in the dynamic"?

Arr right I thought the cable on the cd changer was removable.

Sounds like your going to have a bit of a problem.

Unless when you remove that metal cover on the cd changer and find that a plug like the one Ive drawn your probably going to need a new cd changer unless you want to get busy witgh a soldering iron.

Instead of buying the cable and trying to make it fit you might bet better of selling your present one any buying one from an ICE place there a site on the net dedicated to aftermarker cd changer for cars which sells Renault ones quite cheap.

oh right, whats the URL for the site mate?

I might just get a new one from the dealor then i now it will be fit under the drivers seat and be working and it will be new also with the same warranty as the car, 3 years?

PS does anyone have a picture of the Official Renault CD changer that is fitted to renaults? the same I think as what used to come with 172s.

yeah that is basically mine that was in the dynamique the vdo dayton unit. So the normal 172 one is exactly same as this but is in black yeah?
