HELP with KEYfob Immobiliser =/

I have a clio 172 cup 52plate and use it everyday.. i parked it up last night and used the key fob to lock it..
i came to unlock it this mornin and nothin happened so i unlocked it with the key and the alarm went off.. i tried startin the car and nothin hapens.. i rang renault and they said take it to them and in 2 weeks they will have a new key programmed in and it will work after spending about £200+vat (£100+vat for key and labour charges) which seems like a long time a lot of money.. PLeaSE PLEASE PLEASE has anyone had the same problem or know of a quicker and less expensive way of sorting the problem out? as this is my only car and without it im screwed for getting to work n back and the renault garage wont lend me a car while its being sorted.. nope the car wont start at all.. the alarm did go off when i tried but thats stopeed altogether now..

Does the red light on the dash board go out when you put the keys in?

Do you get dash lights? Does the windows work? check the connecter or in the UCH properly passenger side of dash underneath glovebox.

no it doesnt.. and now when i turn the key in the ignition all the lights on the dash flash intermittently with a couple of whirry clicky noises happening.. also the key in the door doesnt work the central locking so the boot is unlocked also.. anyway of locking that independently?

nope the windows dont work.. the dash lights do tho.. the only clip i can find to the right hand side of the undernaeath of glove box seems connected fine

The cars battery is flat...........simple as !!!!

Don't leave the keys in the ignition while you change the battery.

yeah will it work if i try some jumper cables onto it from another car?

It will get the car going then you still need to charge the battery properly.

Don't forget, connect the neg last, and disconnect it first when you finish.

right ive done that and the fob now turns the alarm on and off and everything seems to work but when i turn the engine over it ticks about 5 times but then nothing..

is this while trying to jump it? if so mate i would just go get yourself a new battery as sometimes jumping wont start it have you had the key apart?

its workin! i tried the 'hold down the end button while turnin it on' and the lights have gone off and i hear the lovely purr

You still need to charge the cars battery up, and also try to find out why it went flat in the first place.

Remember, the alarm will still work if the cars battery is flat as it has its own battery, but the remote locking wont as thats driven by the cars battery.

The reason you couldn't get it to operate immediately is because the remote transmitters code on the key and the receivers code in the car, were out of sync after the cars battery went flat and it lost power.

To get them back you need to press the button at least three times to re-align the rolling code. Its covered in the section of your handbook where they tell how to replace batteries in the key. Same procedure if the cars battery gives up.
