HELP WITH NETWROKING ASAP!!!

Hiya folks,

im in need of some assistant! Heres the plot -

I have a laptop on windows xp and a desktop on vista. Both are connected through a HUB and I have run the network wizard etc. I can see both computers on the network and can share files/folders no problem. Come to gaming however, for eg, steam, I can only play if I create the server on my laptop. If i create a game on the desktop I can't see it on the laptop?? Why the hell is this!?!?! Ive spent 4 hours trying to fix it

Firewall blocking the ports?

Yeah check your firewall - gaming can use odd ports. Just turn the firewall off on both machines and try it - then adjust the settings to allow the correct ports.
