help with wiring ph2 lights in ph1

Stupid question, I looked at the guide, but how do you physically do it? I looked at the block and tried to pull the wires out thinking they were just pushed on to connect, but won't budge. Do you need to cut the wires and re-connect or just pull harder to free the wires from the block?
