Help! Worrying noise.

I've just had an odd noise start, coming from the left side of the engine bay (near the aux belt?). It's not a normal belt slipping noise, more a deeper rubbing kind of sound. Increases with revs and has gone from noise every second at idle to constant noise at idle. Water temp doesn't appear to have raised significantly (yet).

Any ideas? Do I pay for recovery to the garage? (which is probably the sensible option but thought I'd ask the experts before handing it over to renault!

could be aux belt but could be cambelt/tensioner get it checked

Good call Gaz. It was the aux belt. Although as I left her at the garage there were 4 mechanics looking under the bonnet scratching their heads!

£180 ish from renault. Better than a cam belt I guess. And better than it coming off whilst driving.
