Takes the PH1 out today and noticed a strong rubber smell, I've taken it back home and noticed the spring (tentioner?) on the aux belt is pressing against the belt !? Where is this tentioner meant to be sitting ?

Perfectly straight... sounds like the spring unit has failed mate so don't drive it until you've had the full aux. belt kit replaced.

Cheers Mick, Ive been wanting a cup setup for some time now - guess nows a good as time a ever (the tentioner seems to be about the same price)

Does the cup aux setup use any rollers or is it just the belt ?

it is pretty difficult for any 'normal' person to fit these incorrectly as there's three holes in which you screw in three bolts... not rocket science.

Must have just died then, it's made one hell of a mess in the bay !

Belt kit needs changing anyway but when you manage to get the old kit off check the alternator, water pump and PAS pulleys for signs of movement to... just to be sure!
