Hesitant of late - loss of power?

  Clio 182 Trophy. No. 189
Have had no engine issues with the T and have it serviced regularly.

Of late, my engine management light came on once and went away after I turned the car off and on. Have since had a feeling that car is 'holding back' and does not feel quite right.

Plugs checked and seem ok, coil pack less than 10k miles from new and no other problems noticed.

Wondering if problem relates to lambda?

Top end car still flies, seems to be revs between 1 and 3k.

Further update, took the car to my friends garage yesterday and fault seems to be related to the MAP sensor.

Easy enough to replace but would a tiny sensor really cause a major problem?

Would there be a reason why the EML light came on once only and cleared itself? (before the trip to his garage)

How did he manage to pinpoint it as being MAP sensor related?

Yes it's entirely possible but normally a map sensor would cause it to be s**t everywhere rather than just at low grunt. Does it miss when being revved and not under load or is it only an issue under load?

Hi Mick,

Had a fault stored and he mentioned an abnormal reading. Have no idea if that sounds right!

Seems like it's slightly rough at idle to me, hesitation under load. No major misfire, never fails to start and never cuts out during use.

Thanks

Right not had any lights on the dash since the fault with the MAP sensor.

Only thing I would say is the engine is on the noisy side and the exhaust seems to sound slightly 'odd'.

Any ideas?

Have a nasty feeling I have a valve issue but that is only a gut instinct.

Thanks

Crank sensor? Mine died recently and it sounded like it was running on bolts when it ran.

Sounds plausable.

Did you have any dash lights?

Also, mine always starts no problem, did yours?

Cheers for the reply.

I couldn't tell on the dash lights as an ABS sensor is dicky so it's always on at the mo.

I died on a trackday. Misfire under load then cutout. Wouldn't start initially then died but was rough.

Mine has never really cut out so not sure this is the same problem.

Thanks for your input though ;-)
