Hi all, looking for a 172

Just thought id come on and say hi, i am another ex 106 owner, had a 106rallye, bought an 04 plate mini cooper but it is abit to boring for me and iv always wanted a cliosport now im 19 im finally going to get a 172.
i have around 7500 but the insurance is looking like being around 1900 so that leaves me with around 5500.
think im going to go for a 172 as i can get more for the money which i have.
any tips would be great and looks like a very good forum btw and i'll be on here a lot im sure

Im sure you will get loads of a good advise here, but from one noob to another make sure the cambelt/aux belt has been changed, its very expensive to get done.

You could get a 182 for £5500.

Thanks mate, yeah realised it was abit girly and not for me after 1 drive, just wanted to get in the newer car market and out of the old chavy car market, my rallye ran a 15.1 1/4 mile and was a quick car, but to be honest id never have on again.
with all the modcons new cars have they win hands down in my eyes.
thanks for the advice mate will make sure its been done, it is something i usualy look for but if its particularly expensive on cliosports ill keep my eye out for it.

oh and would go for a 182 but for some reason the insurance seems to always come up higher by around £200

Get the 182 you will regret it if you dont. if your paying 1900 for insurance whats another 200!!!! I picked up and nice 182 on a 05 plate for £4750!

That was stupid cheap though!!! (and didn't you say it needs some work??) Should be able to get a decent one for £5500 though.

just had another check and this time it came out the same as the 172 on moneysupermarket, looking at the 0-60 times there doesnt seem to be much in it to be worried about unless im splitting hairs, i agree the 182's look a little better so as soon as the mini goes ill be straight off to look at either a 172 or 182, and ill finally have something decent again (hmhm i mean amazing in this case)

Nice Mini. I considered one before the 182 but couldn't beleive how well they hold there money (compared to 182)

Thanks matt, the minis hold their value and arent worth what they fetch imo, yeah they are a great car and very reliable but i just think they are a little boring and cant see why anyone wuld chose on over something quicker unless they were a girl or couldnt get insured i.e me. .. and lemonnobby1 have you got a link with your for sale thread.
