Hi everyone, can anyone help

Hi everyone im new to the site, ma dads told me you are all a nice bunch of ppl as he comes on the site quite a bit. At the moment i drive a mk2 nova 1.4 8v Sri (modded), im only 17 and its my first car, but im considering selling it and getting a mk2 Clio 1.4 Si, i just need some info on it if any1 can help i.e:-

1)Whats the insurance group?

2)Is it a 8v or 16v?

3)whats the bhp/mph/0-60?

4)Whats the extra things it comes with from the 1.2 like front fog lights ect?

Any help would be appreciated cheers craig

I can only account for the new model 1.4 16v:

1) group 4

2) this one a 16v

3)98bhp/112/10.5 to 62mph (maybe a tad conservative)

4) Not sure of spec, any sport orientated version should have fogs though.

Hope this helps.

-Rob

Thanx Rob, i do like the mk3 clios but i can only afford a mk2 for now. 98bhp thats the same as a saxo vtr isnt it? for a 1.4 16v thats mint in IMO:D. Does anybody know if the mk2 Si is 98bhp? hope so:D, and group 4 insurance thats very good my nova sri is group 7. cheers craig

Welcome!

There isnt a Mk3 Clio yet: the newest shape one is still a Mk2 (1998-present) and is known as Phase2. What youre thinking of as a Mk2 is actaully a Mk2 Phase1. There were also three Phases of the Mk1 Clio (1991-98).

Mk2 Phase1 (1998-2001) saw a number of engine options and some confusing trim levels. But during 2000, before the Phase2, there was a new range of engines and trim levels given to the Clio. These included a new 1.4 16v unit giving 98bhp. The trim levels also chaged - offering sport ("Sport" 1.2, Si 1.4 and RSi 1.6), budget and luxury options for most engine sizes apart from the Renaultsport Clio. The sport trim had nice seats, better headlamps and some nice multispoke alloys.

I looked into getting one of these at the time and they were doing some very good deals - which means theyre fairly popular (especially in metallic blue). I really wanted a hot hatch though and went for a Mk1 16V because I was a bit older and could get better insurance quotes. I think the 0-60 is about 10.5, but the performance isnt quite as good overall as a VTR on paper, but who knows on the road.

GirlRacer my dad is Paul172 owns a Mk2 172 iceberg silver, 17" TSW Reflex ect.

Cheers Ben answered all my questions there im just a bit confussed over Mk2 Phase1 Clio 1.4 Si is it a 8v or 16v? or was it just the last of the phase1s were 16v if so whats the bhp/mph/0-60 for the 8v? cheers craig

Welcome fella... Youll find lots of people here hate the nova, but thats just personal opinion. Good on you for getting yourself a licence and some wheels at the age of 17...

Keep saving and you can get yourself a nice little clio, just beware clios are faun when they work but a pain when they dont and some dont work as much as others... So look hard and choose wisely!

  A slow one :-(

Alreet mate ive just got my Clio Alize. Its a 1.4 16v with 98bhp! Its canny quick but gets nailed by VTRs round corners! Think that maybe cos im jack sh*t at driving lol! Its still quick though for a 1.4. Mines grp 5 and comes with leccy windows, air con, foggys. Got my isnurance sorted the other day with LV cost me 1240. Thats good for me considering im only jsut about to turn 20 in the next week got 0NCBs and 1 write off due to adverse weather conditions!

I would be interested in seeing a pic of ur dads alloys on his car cos im considering going for some TSW reflexs with a 60mm drop!

nicky i know what you mean about ppl hating the nova but i like the car and its my first and im very happy with it, but i bet the ppl who hate them wouldnt have said no to one for their 16th birthday i was well chuffed :D

Hi Eddie cheers for the info, is there any difference between the Alize and Si? i thought the Si came with leather or is that just the 1.6 16v? but leccy windows, air con, foggys thats more than enough. group 5 insurance thats alot better than my nova which is 7 :(. have you had yours lowered or thought about it? then them vtrs wouldnt stand a chance.

heres some pics of ma dads car for you:-

Cheers! I have literally jsut got it so im looking into all these things at the moment! Im thinkin of lowering it 60mm cos i hate the body roll compared to my old 106! Not sure whats pec the Si is but both cars a canny rare! I bought my dads of him for 3500 which is really cheap cos i found one in Autotrader for 6k! The only major problem ive had with the clio is that i blew the head gasket or my dad did but renault paid for half of it cos they said that it was a faulty one or something!
