Hi guys!

  BMW M4
Hello Ladies & Gents.
New to the forum and never owned a Clio or indeed a Renault! I am looking for a little project (trackday car) and read some really good things about the Clio 172 & 182's. Have modified cars before and currently drive a BMW M4 which had already undergone some surgery including an AKRAPOVIC exhaust.

I don't want to spend too much on the car (say 800 - 1500 max), as I say it's a little weekend project.
So a few questions:
Should I get a 172 or 182?
What price should I pay for a high mileage example of either? I see on eBay the prices vary greatly and some of the 172's seem quite inflated?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome along, prices can vary depending on if it needs it's cambelt changing or had it done as it's a few £££ job to get it done right

Have a look in the classifieds on here as they will more than likely be a looked after example. Which model will depend on how far you want to go with it for a track car, if stripping it then look at 172 Cups or the phase 1 172, there will probably be some track focused cars for sale with some things you will do to it already done

Cheers mate,
So is a ph 2 172 no good for track?
Any renault sport is awesome on track mate. Especially the ph2 172. The cup even more so! This is due to its lightness, I think about 80kgs or so that a standard 172! Having said that they don't have ABS which may not be as good on a wet track day. A good 172 will set you back about 1500 quid and if you prefer the 182 a good one be about 2500 quid.

Get some cooksport springs and you're set for track providing brakes etc are in order.
