hi

hello all im new here... have been driving a saxo for the last 2 years but someone wrote it off.. so now im looking for a clio... however... i need a small engined one and there are so many different types that im unsure of where to start looking... grande, dynamique, etc etc

i want something that looks kind of sporty.. i.e alloys etc etc and im looking for a y reg or above.

can someone tell me the different models of the clio and what they have please?

much appriciated :)

so the dynamique is the one to be looking for then :) thanks very much

also what are the common faults with a clio? my saxo was always in the garage for this that and the other!

51 plate or newer dynamique, earlier ones will be looking at a second cambelt replacement. Sterring wheels seem to melt for some reason, thats very common. Don't be worry if you look at a 1.2 and it has mayo under the oil filler cap, thats common on the the D4F engine. Rattly sunroof is another common issue, just turn the radio up to cure that.

ahh right thanks for the info :)

and the mayo thing?? ive always known that tp be headgasket failure? so if its not that on this model how do i know if the headgaskets on its way out?

If its drinking water like a mofo would be the best bet, i think it was mainly the 51-53 plate engines that had the mayo problem, something to do with the amount of short journeys the cars are used for and the poor design of the cap, 04 year they revised the engine IIRC.

If your given the opportunity to test drive, give it a good blast, when you check the cap again it should have cleared up nicely and shoiuld be pretty clean.

right ok, ive found one for only 900.00 but its done 125k miles which is putting me off a little... should i be right to leave it and not bother with it? its Y reg

im in preston in lancashire and my budget is between 900-1200 i do have more money to come but ive been off road since nov and im jus dying to get back on the road asap really

Just for the record i have 1.2 Dynamique 54 plate and that still has mayo under the cap, worried me like hell at first. As far is i know its to do with condensation mixing with oil in the plastic filler cap

  Clio MK2 Dynamique
Welcome:approve:
I have a dynamique and i'm having a problem with a leaky sunroof (waiting for some dry weather to get it fixed) and the 'melting' steering wheel, but thats about it.
