why not just get a set of 182 xenons? they are an exact fit.

You will likely be blinding people with a conversion kit in the normal headlights due to the way they are designed.

Was about to make a similar thread but might aswell post in here...

I have a mk2 ph1 with the dual optic headlights (as fitted to the 172), I want to install HID's but I just want to know how people mount the ballasts, and are the bulbs easy enough to fit? Is it a bumper off job (bearing in mind its not a sport there is a bit of room to change bulbs etc)

Know a few people who have done it on here and after some advice, don't fancy takin the bumper off thats all.

Can someone quickly put up a step by step guide?

Cheers :D

keep an eye on them. If you can get them for under £250 then youll be crazy not to.

It's no that they're bright, it's because the beam pattern is messed up. Hello MOT fail.

Not necessarily true. My car passed no problem and worked for a garage for 5 years doin MOT's. Its the testers decision whether to fail it. No law. Ive checked endless amounts of times and ive read allsorts on them as i have them on my car. There is no law against them!

I can see what your saying but it still wont fail an MOT. Its down to the tester to decide wether to pass it. They will also find it very hard to fine you for having them fitted in normal headlights. The garage where i used to work called them and asked them about all this and aslong as the beam pattern is exactly how it should be then that law is basically srapped. I agree that that may apply to other cars but not to the clio :)

It's a bit of a grey area really.

It would be an interesting test to see what an insurance company would say if you crashed/caused a crash and had "convert[ed] an existing halogen headlamp unit for use with HID bulbs" when "it is not permitted" to do so.

I'm not against doing it personally, just like to know if I'm breaking the law or not LoL

Every bloody rattley old barried up shitbox around my way has hid conversion. They look s**t and stand out a mile imo.

Best one is a white shitron ax with them. His are green and dont do much other than light up his bumper. They must be 10 or 12k ones. Noooowb.
