Hihg revs when not giving gas,, its run about 2500 revs after my engine is hot.

Hello everybody, Iam from The Netherlands so my english is not perfect.
I have this problem with my RS172 from 2000 en i hope anyone can help me with it.
When i first start the car its runs good, when the engine is getting warm after 5 min.its giving me problems.
The engine runs then between the 1500 and 2800 revs when not giving gas and in the low revs it runs not smooth anymore.
I have cleaned my TB and inlet manifold and still i have this problem.

Anyone can help me ?

I think it is becouse you are filling it up with gas not petrol.imoo tbh.

Hey there mate, I had the exact same problem, I tried cleaning the throttle body, did nothing but then I changed a few things I was doing with regards to "cleaning" it and it sorted the issue.

What are you cleaning it with? I was using WD40 and learnt this just dries out or burns off.

I took the throttle body right off the car, covered it in a "silicone spray" (very easy to get hold of from your local motor factors.)

I then put it back on the car, had someone sit in the drivers seat and pump the accelerator, whilst they were doing this, I silicone sprayed all moving parts, the spring, in the body, all down the cable, generally everything, then got in the car and sprayed in the car where the pedal cable comes through.

After I did this and went out for a good blast, I had no more issues.

If this doesnt solve it, i'd suggest you maybe have a frayed accel cable, or just need a new throttle body.

I have fixed it already, I have pull the idlecontrolvalve appart and cleant it.
My car runs better then before now.
