HiSpec 4 pot brake kit

Has anyone with this kit had any problems with the fitment of it? I got mine today (285mm discs) and it all seemed to fit on ok till I put the brake pads on and noticed that the friction material overhangs the outer edge of the disc by about 4mm - I guess they shouldnt do that?

I did think that the caliper needed to move in closer to the hub, but if it moves in any further it will foul the disc - so I am guessing that I have the wrong pads?? Can anyone with this kit let me know what theres is like.

You can just make out the problem here:

looks good!!! how much did that set you back????

does the pad line up on the inside (near the centre of the disc) or is that 4mm out too?????

best bet is to speak to the supplier/or hispec themself

Hi Spec are based just down the road from me, ive no idea who they are..i notice they advertise in the Max Power type mags with the web address f-ingbigbrakes.com or something..which put me off immediately. Is the kit Clio specific?

Its a Clio/5GT specific kit, the same as K-tec/BB performance sell.

It looks like its the Mintex brake pads that are causing the problem - HiSpec are sending out some different pads which should be here tomorrow.

did you mange to get the problem sorted? was it the pads?

was possibly thinking about getting the same kit but wondered how you got on

also i was told that you could only get them in gold or black, did you ask especially for silver?

I never got the problem sorted - once hispec had my money they didnt care about any problems, ended up going through trading standards and Visa to get my money back. I have also heard that a lot of people have had problems dealing with Hispec. If you do go for the kit dont order it from them, get it from somewhere decent like k-tec - you should get some decent custmer care from them.

The problem was that the pads were overhanging the edge of the disc - two different makes of pad had the same fault.

Hispec were just starting to do the calipers in silver when I ordered mine.

As Rob said I sent the kit back and got the big brake disc conversion which uses the standard calipers from k-tec (http://www.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/brake302.jpgwww.mcmillan-uk.com/clio/brake302.jpg) this has solved all the brake fade problems I had and gives a fair bit more braking power over the standard brakes - well worth it for the money.
