Hmmmmmm expensive month ahead!

  172 cup
Right Im planning on doing quite a lot to the car this month as Ive not done anything to it in the last year Ive had it.

First of all its due MOT and Tax at the end of June.

I've just booked it in to have tints done, hoping to change the side repeaters to black rather than yukky orange, also hoping to get a detailing session in before the FCS at the end of June.........

Not sure I can afford anything else but do people have any suggestions? Pic of my car below. Was going to get it lowered but Ive thought against this now.

Colour coded side/bump strips, PH2 tail lights, PH1 RS alloys if you can afford them. :)

Like the idea of colour coding the strips yeh - how would I go bout doing this? Any links for places I can buy em?

I hate the plastic on my car, I am constantly using bumper shine stuff to stop it looking so grey and dull against the black.

Dont want to change my alloy's, I like the ones ive got already.

Once you start using that stuff you have to keep it up as as it will look worse if you dont. I remember it from my mk1 days.

£200 -250 to get the lot colourcoded, depending on where you go to get it done.

Ph2 rear lights are a good idea as well.

I believe this comes under the 'Lusty' rule. Lusty has tints, therefore they are in bad taste.

Nobodies perfect. Tints are over £100 aren't they? Get some Eibachs instead.

Black side repeaters and tints on a 1.2 will look chav im afraid. Loads of black 1.2's around here with exactly that doing the mcdonalds run. On a renault you cant add much to the front windows anyways, as theyre already tinted from factory.

Clear side repeaters, colour coding and lowering it a little for the money will look much nicer.

Yeh I do fancy colour coding it but no idea how to go about doing it - I think lowering it would look chavvy too - I dont really care how it looks to others its how it looks to me and whether I like it and I like tints and black side repeaters, I know I arent a chav boy racer so it doesnt matter. You are however allowed an opinion

Lol, seems like you already know what you want to do to the car, so why the thread asking for suggestions?

Because I havnt asked for peoples opinions on what im already planning to do i.e. the tints. I havnt asked - do you think its chavvy? have I? Ive asked does anyone have any further suggestions on what I can do i.e. few people have mentioned colour coding it which I hadnt thought of.

Honestly, lower it 40mm, colour code, clear side repeaters, and a good detail and job done.

Don't chav it up with tints, and it looks like a 4x4 all the way up there.

Remember the saying, you can't polish a turd.

Lowering it means notifying my insurance, getting the parts and finding someone to fit them for me (sounds like a pain in the a**) I prefer black to clear for side repeaters (personal preference) and yeh agree with Colour Coding

Don't do it. It is illegal, I'd be more worried about what would happen if you pulled out of a junction onto someone.

Clios windows have a light tint from factory hun. Only problem with the law now is that if you tint just the rears, you end up with a black car looking like a van.

Nice in summer but be rubbish in winter when its dark most of the time you're driving. Be like driving with sunglasses on all the time.

The front ones would be the lightest tint you can get which is very similar to what the standard rear window comes in anyway - its not like I wouldnt be able to see out of my window ffs - its more illegal as Police cant see you in the car from the side so cant see whos driving for example, whether their wearing a seatbelt or on the phone etc....

Ive said above that I probs wont bother anyway - will probs just get back done - Ive seen examples and I like so not worried about it looking like a van

LOL! Its only illegal because the police cant see you in the car??? If you're getting them dark enough that they cant tell who's driving and what you're doing, theyre faaarrrrrrrr too dark hun.

Go for a drive tonight with sunglasses on and work out for yourself why theyre illegal.

I give up - so its illegal to wear sunglasses too is it?

don't do the tinting.

Make sure you get Ph2 rear lights, Big improvement.
After that it's just the 172 Bumpers wings and skirts IMO

He's just trying to point out you'll be able to see f**k all out of the windows at night, so in that way it would be like driving your car at night with sunglasses on. Which you clearly wouldnt do because you wouldnt be able to see properly.

Police take a very dim view on tints, we've had cars here that have come back after having a light tint on the fronts done and the police have got the light meter out and told them they need to be removed. As a result we wont pass on people to tint companies and even the local glass companies we use wont tint front side windows on modern cars.

At night, yes. The minimum transmission has to be 85%, which they leave the factory at. So any tint on the front 3 windows is a FAIL.
