Looking at getting a midish range home cinema system for my room to go with my new TV.

There a quite a few nice/decent spec ones for like £200 but after looking at the techincal specs they dont appear to have a optical/digital input which I will use to connect my PC.

I have been looking at the ones that are a DVD player and amp combi and with HDMI upscaling output.

Anyone know of a model with optical input.

Have you looked at this one: http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=362131&tab=specification? You;ll need to pick up a seprate DVD player but can get decent HDMI ones fairly cheap now.

yeah it doesn seem that its the seperate amp setup ones have many more inputs. But we have a awesome Pioneer one downstairs that has an Optical input.

Also not to keen on the styling as its based round a 360.

There must be sommet out there lol.!!!

Samsung HT-TX35R, very good, cheap and looks cool, plays divx etc, upscales the lot, even plays straight from usb sticks etc

Well the inbuilt DVD isnt essential as I already have one so this could be a good idea

I've looked all over and keep coming back to that one.

It's the only one with 2 HDMI and 2 Optical inputs that's reasonable that I could find.

We've got the earlier version of that one JJ! - the HTSF1000 - it's very good.

Shame it's only got an HDMI switcher and not repeater - means you need to use optical or coax to get digital sound output from your devices.

sounds ok through the tv using phono cables...

but we mainly got it for watching films... for whic the coax is used.. and sounds damn good too!
