Quick few questions.

I have a 32" Samsung HDTV, xBox 360 & soon to be a new 5.1 Surround Sound system.

I wish to connect all these up so I can have 5.1 sound from all of them.

The tv has 3 HDMi inputs, the surround sound & xbox also have HDMi connections.


If I connect the surround sound & xBox 360 to the Tv via HDMi, how do I get 5.1 sound from Tv and xBox.

Optical cable from tv to suround sound?

Would it not work if i connected the xbox to the tv via hdmi then connect a optical cable from the tv to the input in the surround sound?

you need an optical splitter, here is what I have

1 out of surround sound. then from splitter, one goes into xbox, make sure you have the optical cable. 1 goes into sky box! voila. 5.1 surround

You won't get 5.1 from the Xbox then. The Xbox only does 5.1 from the optical jack.
