Horn question...

  BMW M3
I own a 2004 182 and lately the horn is starting to pi*s me off.

It used to be quite a loud and mean sounding horn but in the last couple of months its been playing up just when i need it most.

Sometimes it sounds quite weak but still loud enough to hear and then other times its barely noticible...

Women started creeping into my lane on a dual carrageway today and i had only mm's of space between me and a curb so i peeped the horn and she didnt even notice it, and hardly did I.

Thought it may have something to do with it being damp but then on a sunny dry day it would be fine one second and crap*y the next.

Is there any quick fix or a warrenty job by renault. Really dont have the time or patience to see thoughs muppets again!!!

Thanks guys

Jus

I think it may be a bad earth connection, from my memory horns are quite simple things just a switch with a live feed and an earth, I know the earth cable on mine is starting to rust and the horn has got progressivly worse, try that

the horn on the RS models are "dual horns" according to renault. Suppose to be twice as loud as normal clio horns.
And they are loud when working properly I think.

^^^ Thats what i was thinking... dampness. Yeah... they are loud as hell when working fully and they do seem to have 2 of them built into one.

Just out of interest, anyone know how to take the wheel arch lining out as it seems to be fixed in place by these big rubber rivit things that dont budge...?
