horrible sounding engine when warm

can anyone shead any light on this one ...

recentley bought this and a bit worried

54 reg 182 done 76K , full service history and cam belt done 8K ago


quiet as a mouse when cold , but when warm on tick over it sounds like a bag of spanners ,tappy kind of noise , sounds top part of the engine , if i rasie the revs not even 500rpm it goes quiet

id like to see if i could get this fixed , if any one knows the problem please ?

I'm getting mine changed next friday. Getting it done with the aux and cambelts as they all need to come out to get to it. think they cost about 130 odd quid + fitting.

I'm paying 610 for the lot inc service.

hmm is yours quiet when cold ? sound pritty much the same as yours in the vid

yeah it does.

can you still hear it if you rev higher then 2k? If you can then it may be something else. If you can't then its 99% the dephaser pulley.

apparently they dont fail, but its a good idea to get it changed.

I've driven 3000 miles since I've noticed it and nothing has changed..
