hot clutch?

Car  E36 328
i recently had ma clutch cable changed, an ever since its crunched like a b**ch wen i put it in reverse sometimes, an i recently noticed its wen the weather gets hot, i asked this guy in the local car shop jus in passin about it an he said that i probably need a new clutch, but it was perfect before i had the new clutch cable, is there no way i can tighten up the new clutch cable so the bite point is higher, cos at the moment its really really low, which probably means its not disengaging which is why it crunches?

Cheers
