After I had an Omex 600 ECU installed what I done was took the dash off to get to the clocks and carefully peeled back the black strip. Once peeled back enough to get behind the strip placed a piece of black insulation tape behind it, and then jobs a gudn'.
If I were you though I would put 2 pieces behind as in the pitch black dark you can slightly still see the lights.
It needs to go on the CLiP the renault diagnostic tool used to use electronic information off the car. so you need to go to a renault specialist to get them to deactivate the airbag on the car about £70 shiop about also some places refuse to do this...."this deactivates all the air-bags though"

erm sometimes it can be the seats. the wires are under the seats and they might have got twisted or something. try moving the seats (both drivers and passengers) forward and back couple of times gently.
